    CONTEST: New USA Kilts Site

    Hello Guys and Gals,

The new site is 99% finished and ready to be checked for spelling errors, broken pics, horrible mistakes and whatnot. For those who would like to help us out, I'm going to initiate a contest:

The MOST helpful person to quality checking our new site (as determined by me) will get a FREE USA Kilts Casual Kilt.

The REST of the people who participate won't be left out... Once the site goes live, we're going to offer a 35% off coupon for any "non kilt" product on our site... basically, ANYTHING EXCEPT Kilts and Kilt Packages. This will be given to anyone who sends us some suggestions / errors on the new site. Please note: Sending me an email saying "I like the site, but would use a darker green for the nav bar" doesn't count as Quality Checking. This coupon will be good for about a week after the site goes live.

As a hint how to get FAR AHEAD in the standings... check out the "13 -16 oz wool gallery" on the 5 yard wool and Premier Kilt pages. If anyone goes through that WHOLE THING and gives me spelling errors, I'll be VERY impressed. I had to type EVERY ONE of those in by hand, so I know there have got to be SOME errors.

If you want to sign up for the mailing list, feel free.

PLEASE NOTE: The Contest ENDS WEDNESDAY September 17th at 5 PM EST. I need to have time to review the errors and get them fixed before we go live, so it's a "short contest".

Errors that I know exist (don't tell me about them... they don't count):

    1. The "11 oz Wool Tartan Gallery" only has SOME of the letter categories fully named. I'm currently in the process of naming the rest.

    2. I know the new site is a little slow. We had to get a Dedicated Server and it's a little slow. We're in the process of upgrading to a faster dedicated server.

    3. Checkout DOES NOT work yet. We have to get it hooked up to our gateway when the site goes live. DO NOT TRY TO BUY ANYTHING YET. You can GLADLY put in a fake credit card # and go through the checkout process to quality check it, but be aware that your order will NOT process.

Without Further Ado, here's the new site's Test Server:

Let me know what you guys think and THANK YOU in advance to all who participate and help us become a better company and build a better site!

Can't find any real errors. Perhaps "Women" should be changed to "Women's Wear", as I don't think you actually sell women, LOL!

I have found one issue. It's a personal peeve of mine. In your Registered Tartans section, the images of the tartan swatches extend in white all the way to the copy section, even though the graphic itself is only a small swatch. I don't know that it's actually a problem- it's just something that I think detracts from the overall quality of a web page.

In the Wool Tartans gallery, I click on what looks like the Irish tartans link, and I get Welsh tartans. I click on the Welsh tartans and get Irish. I found the labeling to be a little confusing at first.

Otherwise, the site looks fantastic! I like it a lot.

Oh! And I'm not sure if this is in error or not:

    Banf & Buchan Ancient
    Mill: HOE
    Material Weight: 13 oz.

Is Buchan correct, or is it supposed to be Buchanan?

    National Millenium

    Mill: Loch
    Material Weight: 13 oz.

National Millennium is, I believe, the correct spelling.

    Scottish Parliment Comemoritive

    Scottish Parliament Commemorative

    Stuart, Prince Charles Edwar Modern

    Stuart, Prince Charles Edward Modern

County Offally Mill: HOE Material Weight: 13 oz.
Offaly County Crest Mill: MM Material Weight: 13 oz.

I don't know which is correct: Offaly or Offally. They're different, which says to me that one is wrong.

    Nothin' in the Welsh.

Oh, and you have an email with a ton more, brotha'!!

I made an account. Works a expected, but you emailed me my username and password. Username is OK, kinda sorta. Password... on a commercial site? No no no. Email is insecure. I would recommend losing the full MyNewAccount login info email.

The only error I could find is when you pull down the accessories list Ghillie Brogues is spelled "Ghilles Brogues". On the Wool Tartans page the last St. Andrews on the Left their is no period after the "St" it is "St Andrews". That's all I could find.

Jewelery (in the menu) is not a word.

Sorry ... I just saw the admonition to e-mail rather than post corrections.

No email. I love the Dropkick Murphy's Fenway Park vid! Have you listened to "Flannigan's Ball" with Ronnie Drew (from the legendary Dubliners) punking it with the boys in the last year of his life. Too freakin' cool! RIP Ronnie.

If you want to create an account, you will HAVE to create a password to protect your info. If you'd rather NOT create an account, we DO have an "express checkout" option (under the "Creat Account" button) where you do NOT have to create an account and a password. I'll check into the emailing password thing...

BTW, the suggestions made and spelling errors found so far are EXACTLY what I was looking for. Keep it coming, guys!
