I did not mean to jump on you my intent was to gently correct a common mistake.
Spent a number of years soldiering for H.M Queen so I know it's the Black Watch, it's just it's 3 in the morning here and my two fingers don't; no offence taken by the way
Ok, so we held our banquet to celebrate 40 years of our Aikido Dojo in Phoenix. The party was held at the St. Michael's hotel in Prescott. After much searching for the right tie to go with my Black Watch kilt- and not having success- except for a dark blue one that was not the best quality (so I passed it up) (how is this for one convoluted run-on sentence) I decided to wear the Mitchell Modern with black hose, black shirt and a white striped tie that had black running through and was an uncanny match for the white stripes of the kilt. (I know some are thinking that that is a lot of black and with the black argyle coat as well-and I promise to post pics as soon as someone sends me some ad I figure out the photobucket thing- otherwise, I know, people will think I am making this up.
I received very many compliments at the party and from people on the street- mostly women, but men as well. One young man in our group who has always been a chick magnet was absolutely floored and was asking if I could let him wear the kilt later that evening when he spied some young women in the lobby of the hotel ( of course that never happened.) I had people buying me drinks, and the bartender poured a double dose of Glenlivet 12 for the price of one, noting how much she liked my attire. And I was asked out to the dance floor by several of the ladies. So I guess it turned out ok.
On a down note- my wife could not drive up from Phoenix to join me. (She is the one who likes the black shirt wear so much.) Maybe next year.
Sounds like a wonderful evening. I know the downside of not having a spouse able to come. Happens all too much right now, internal problems and several surgical procedures, only one left to go, we all hope!
