A couple of days late but... The events of those days will be forever etched in my mind. I was on active duty at the time in Portsmouth, Va. We got news that something was in happening in New York and we went to the lobby of the hospital and watched the events play out on the T.V. I immediatley called my wife and had her watch also. We were so worried for those folks and the others this would undoubtedly affect. The base immediately went to the tightest security level and we weren't sure what was next.
One of the most profound moments was when we woke the next day and everything was quiet. No trains, no planes, no buses, very few autos. That really drove the nail home...we are at war.
