Urban Camo Box Pleat

My eagerly awaited urban camo box pleat from Midas arrived with the postman while I was at work and my neighbour took it in for me.
It was a wee present which my wife Ann bought me.
This is the first trial fit, still with the ticket attached, and still wearing my business shirt, tie, hose and shoes, having hurriedly changed out of my black heavyweight kilt.

Probably this goes better with the polo shirt, scrunched down hose and boots as it is a long way from the traditional notion of a kilt, having five wide box pleats front and back, a side zip pocket, narrow loops for a trouser belt, and a black polyester lining. Made locally in Manchester, England, for Midas Clothing.com
I already owned one in Hunter Green camo but have lost a bit of weight so was able to buy this in a smaller size.

Now, I need to Jones again, so tomorrow I will be visiting my local kilt shop to order a new 13 oz 8 yard traditional wool kilt, watch this space.

Well my next serious kilt is going to be Fraser Hunting Muted from House of Edgar, ordered this morning. It will be an 8-yard 13 ounce kilt from my local kilt shop and kilt maker.
Here is a swatch of the tartan.
Let the Jonesing re-commence.......

Interestingly enough, all the true kilts from this company have knife pleats. They produce a range of casual kilts in solid colours, curiously the only tartan they do is Buchanan.
The only box pleat garments they produce are pleated front and back. They are honest enough to call their range Kilts and Skirts for men. It does at least have a stitched down fell, which is more than can be said about some of so-called "budget kilts". My purpose in buying this was to obtain a box-pleat "kilt" as none of the quality kiltmakers in Scotland seem to do box pleats. Certainly at just £57 it won't go wrong for casual wear. In fact the only box pleated true kilt which I can ever recall seeing was on a visiting x-marker from USA. My Hunter Green box pleat has featured previously in a few of my travel threads on x-marks, maybe the matching sporran made it look more convincing:-
