I like Glengarries! Unfortunately my pipe band one doesn't fit me well. I'm going to have to wait to try one on before I buy one. But yeah, I'd wear it all over. My dad, who doesn't even own a kilt, wears a Glengarry to the Highland Games and other Scottish events.

I wear mine only to pipe...or, if it's glengarry hat night at the pub. Haven't had the latter, yet. I do like the way they look, so enjoy!

Puffer you are wise to ask,
wear the glengarry Proudly and often as long as it is tasteful and respectful done.
Mind the cap badge.
Cheers

If you like them, then wear them, other than pipe bands and a few in the "Tartan Army" they are a very rare sight over here------ other than visitors who are seen occasionally wearing them.

And we know why, don't we, Jock? They don't keep the heat in or the water out

I say the Glengarry is absolutely appropriate for any Highland attire you are wearing when another cap (such as a Balmoral) would be appropriate. I personally only wear the Glengarry. If you look at the old illustrations, such as MacLeay, you'll see that many of the men, who are posed in day wear (not pipe band attire), are wearing the Glengarry. The Drummond figure comes to mind.

Do people wear the balmoral much in Scotland?

Which now begs the question, What is the most common hat worn there?

How often do you see kilts being worn? Rarely?
