Just goes to prove what Barnum said. . . . . a well known fact of Auctions; people get caught up in the excitement of bidding, and lose sight of the actual value of the item. Sorta like the gambler trying to recoup losses by doubling the bet, but the odds remain the same.

Perhaps they didn't know the source and never thought to check the actual price?

Considering the seller referenced Stillwater's site in their listing

But also consider. . . the last two bidders who drove it past retail value have 8 and 4 eBay transactions to their name, respectively, and bid within moments of the auction close.

Any bets on the likelihood of this item actually being PAID for? Probably much the same odds as those potato chips that look like Leno "going" for hundreds of dollars. . .
