A shot of the orchestra from our box.
"Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament for the Children'...Sad seven times--ah, Patrick MacCrimmon of the seven dead sons....'It's a hard tune, that', said old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.

The wife getting rowdy. Can't take her anywhere without her causing a disturbance of some kind.

Stage shot. The music was fabulous. The selections from Bernstein's work were in turns dramatic, fun, campy and iconic. Yo Yo Ma played beautifully. Having heard my children sawing away practicing their instruments [as much as I love the little darlin's], the contrast was something. My wife originally came to New York to be a French horn player, becoming a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs by a rather circuitous route, and my brother in law is a recovering lawyer turned professional musician [voice and clarinet], so the musical program really hit home.

Sorry about the quality of these pictures, but it's all I could do with my daughter's little Kodak.
