My turn
Well, I've gone to the past few practices with my husband (Christo13) to watch him learn to throw. I decided that I'd like to give it a try next weekend. I've met three ladies who throw, so far -- they're not always out there (and only one of the gals I've met had the ladies' weights with her), but no problem... I'll just do what I can with whoever is out there and work on form.
So, we'll see how I like it. I've taken to helping pick up weights here and there (especially towards the end of the training when they're all hot and tired) despite the guys telling me I don't have to, so I'm sure it was just a matter of time before I got an interest in doing more than moving the weights around
I guess I better get back to more fitness than just walking, and I better start lifting weights again.
Christopher seemed happy when I asked him if he minded if I did this with him (I was originally going to let this be "his" hobby and just watch for a change), and I got an ecstatic thumbs up from him

Well done lassie! Work on the form to avoid injuries and the distances and heights will come along.

Oh yes, definitely! These guys are really nice and keep an eye out as best they can to make sure anyone new learns proper form for efficiency as well as safety. I'm sure it'll be fun!

Have fun! That's ALWAYS the main thing! The family that is kilted and throws heavy things together.... LOL!
I'm hoping my wife can make it this coming weekend to see me--not sure she'd ever pick up a stone though ;-)

Very cool photo, Panache! Love the hair flying behind her Christopher wanted me to leave my hair down/braided, but with it around knee length, I'm not sure I should. LOL! We'll see
I'm looking forward to giving it a try

Go slow, Cynthia... work with light weights first, and get at least passable form before starting to really crank into it.
And don't... what-EVER you do... don't try to throw the stone like a softball.
