I've read the first trilogy of that series, and it's okay... but not particularly great. It read like a SCAtian's fantasy, which is fine... I'm a SCAtian myself. I'd like to think that real members of the Society would have deprived the Protector of his head much earlier, however.
And I'm not in on registering or running up the MacKenzie tartan. Too many other draws on my money; too many other tartans to purchase first.

yep, i'm a scifi fan, and have read that series ( and liked it). Re; the tartan: looks a bit like the maple leaf tartan ( plus orange stripes) ( or maybe it's just my monitor?);0). Having recently been through getting together enough peole for a custom weave ( did it through Fraser & Kirkbright, in Vancouver BC) ( min order is 30 meters) , can't afford more tartan at present ( and already have a Maple Leaf Belted plaid), Good luck.
