Friends all,

I am doing some research on Bonnie Prince Charlie and Scottish Nationalism. I remember reading somewhere that a while ago, 1970s I believe, two brothers came forth declaring themselves to be Bonnie Prince Charlie's heir and heir to the throne of England.

Yet, now, when I actually need the information, it is no where to be found, I cannot seem to get the right tags in google for it to pick up searches that would be helpful.

What I am asking for is, if any of you know any resources and/or information that could help me.

The Sobieski Stuart brothers were frauds of course, but interestingly, Prince Charlie's illegitimate daughter, Charlotte Stuart, styled the Duchess of Albany, herself had three illegitimate children, a son and two daughters, one of whom may have living Polish descendants. The son definitely died without issue.

"It is generally believed that Charlotte's daughters also died without issue. However, according to Peter Pininski's research, Charlotte's elder daughter, Marie Victoire did have issue. Pininski's book suggests that Jules-Hercule, Prince de Guéméné and Duke of Montbazon, elder brother of Ferdinand de Rohan (and aide de camp to Henry Stuart in 1745) recognised Charlotte's offspring as his own – thus giving her status in that tight family. In 1793 at the outbreak of the French revolution, the Rohan family scattered, and Marie Victoire de Rohan went to relatives in Poland. There she met and married Paul Anthony Louis Bertrand de Nikorowicz, a Polish nobleman and son of a banker. They had a son Antime, before she was widowed four years later. (She later remarried James d'Auvergne, a British naval captain, who died after 14 months, and then finally Jean de Pauw, a French army officer.) Antime, was to have a son christened Charles and a daughter Julia-Thérèse, who was to marry Count Leonard Pininski and become Peter Pininski's great-great-grandmother. Pininski's evidence for his thesis has been described as "often indirect, if not elliptical"; the de Rohans were a large family, and it is easy to confuse its many members."

If this is true, Bonnie Prince Charlie has three living descendants, that we know of: Count Stanislaus Pininski; his son, Count Peter James Pininski; and the latter's son, Count Alexander Leon Johann Stanislaus Pininski.

"Son of Count Stanislaus Pininski and Jean Graham of Killearn, Count Peter Pininski was born in London on 23 August 1956. Peter Pininski was working as an art historian at the National Museum in Warsaw when General Jaruzelski imposed Martial Law in 1981. On 18 June 1983 in London, Peter married Countess Marie Badeni and their son Alexander was born in 1988. In 2002 Count Peter Pininski published a very special book _The Stuarts' Last Secret, The Missing Heirs of Bonnie Prince Charlie_. In a very careful account he established the fate of the descendants of Bonnie Prince Charlie of which Count Peter Pininski is one.

Returning to Poland upon the fall of communism Count Peter Pininski has been living in the Polish capital with his father and son. He is director of the Lanckoronski Foundation of Geneva, a trustee of the Ciechanowiecki Foundation at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, chairman of the supervisory Board of A. Blikle Ltd and a member of the supervisory board of the Octava National Investment Fund. "

The very same indeed... except, unlike most other fake princes (for example Terrence McCarthy who fraudulently claimed to be the MacCarthy Mor) Michael Stewart (who legally changed his name from Lafosse) never swindled people out of large sums of money by selling bogus titles.

More to the point, there was an American claiming to be a BPC descendant back in the 70s and 80s. I'll have to dig through my files to see if I can find any more information for those interested in the "Twilight World of Monarchy".
