I am kind of a simple guy in the live and let live way of thinking. when I get up in the morning if the first thing I grab is jeans then I put those on and if the first thing is a kilt i put that on. Halloween is no different.

    Scratch my last post.

I'm going as a sheep this year, and taking my new Border Collie with me. He has a tartan vest. Go figure.

    Cheers,

    Kevin.

I had a whole new thought on the costume question tonight. I personally am a Wiccan/neo Druid minister. Halloween (Samhain) is a religious holiday for me. One of the origins of the custom of wearing a costume for Samhain comes from the ancient pagan faiths. So on that side of things, it's a religious issue. On the day we celebrate our ancestors, it is customary to dress as they did. So for me, the kilt does in fact become part of a costume- the customary dress (albeit stylized and tainted with my modern perception) of my ancestors. So there is that angle to consider when looking at the kilt as a costume issue.

I do like the thought of making the kilt a costume "for one night only" plus i could use that as a cover for my first attempt at a kilted outing

Just remeber the other side of that coin. When people you know see you after Halloween, they are going to ask why you're still wearing a Halloween costume. I would suggest that if you want to wear a kilt you just do it and not look to Halloween as a cover.
