Ooops. Thanks Hugh. I picked that painting out of Seton/Grant's "The Pipes of War", and without thinking just copied the attribution. Reminds me once again that even the best-research tomes can have their errors and the brain needs to think everything through before blindly passing them on.

I had promised to get a picture of Piper Richardson's pipes which now sit in the provincial legislature. I never got around to it, but here is a link to a news story with pictures:

Pipes of War
I hope they don't strip it of highland regiment content. Canada during the 1st world war had many highland regiments such as the Black Watch, 48th Highlanders of Toronto, the Lorne Scots, Essex Scottish etc. and many wore kilts in the fighting. Even in WWII kilts were part of their regimental dress. The Highland affiliation now is with the army reserves with the 48th Highlanders still remaining in Toronto.
I am sure the CBC ( Canadian Broadcasting Corporation ) a number of years ago had an 1 hr. documentary called "Pipes". The theme was the role of pipers in leading the charge and their bravery in their role in the line of battle. I don't know whether it would be available in DVD from the CBC.
My interest would wain if the highland aspect was stripped from the documentary.

Gents,
The fellow taking potshots at us is indeed someone who has been banned from XMTS.
On behalf of the owner and staff here at Marks the Scot.com, let me put in a request that all the fine members here to refrain from rising to the bait. Trolls like to stir things up, this individual will be delighted if he works up our membership. Just remember that here...

Thank you Jamie, that is one of the very reasons why I love this forum.
And just for the record, I didn't mean to imply with my post that we should go over & take the bait. I'm sorry if I gave that indication/impression
