A fine display of tartans
a demonstration of the fine art of the great kilt folding
the Lamont tent
a new Lamont Kiltie
what great fun for a boy (or a man for that fact), wearing a kilt and getting a new sword

I'll do a more detailed post later, but here are some teaser pics.

Myself with Larry Long, of Clan Maxwell.
The Falconers. I made the box pleated kilt in the Co. Louth tartan seen here.

Great blog post, Matt. All y'all out there should read it. Mary and your lovely wife did a great job convincing me about the hose I bought at the STM tent.
It was great to meet our members from Michigan (Luckey) and the Pacific NW (OldHiker) at the gathering. Beowolf and his brother Mike shared dinner fixings with mine at the campground. The Gordon tent had an extremely busy two days, dispensing hospitality to many and signing new members. At one point I think we had 4 or 5 X-markers in the social area, sampling the 10 gallons of brown ale and hard cider that our clan brewer brought with him. Cavscout showed up, as did Atlanta Kiltie, Gilmore, Liv2Ride9, Beowolf, Shawhighlander, and Splash 4 put in a quick appearance. I hope everyone felt welcomed. It was my first stint as convener at Stone and I was busier than a one-eyed dog in a meat-house.
I got re-acquainted from last year with Howie Nicholsby at the G-T tent, and introduced him to a brand of ale I recently disovered - Hebrew Messiah Bold - The Chosen Beer. It tickled him no end. Stopped in at the STM tent to say hey to Matt Newsome and Ryan Ross, and to FINALLY buy a pair of yellow Hawick hose to go with my yellow Gordon pinstripe. Pricey hose, but very comfy.
Kevin MacHeffernan of the L.A. Scots Pipe Band, an internationally ranked Pipe Major (3rd at the International Piping Championships IIRC) gave an awesome demonstration of his mastery of the baton as a return guest of the Atlanta Pipe Band. There were over 600 pipers and drummers from 32 bands on the field for the opening ceremonies.
And Greg - It was Stone Mt., not Grandfather Mt, where the pic above was taken. If you do come next year you are welcome to stay with me. 3rd weekend in October.

Great pictures! It was fun meeting all the Xmarkers on Saturday. My brother had a good time, it was his first time to really wear a kilt. Now I'm trying to talk him into going to a kilt night.

Great pictures. I wonder if you could tell me what the significance of the three military men, on horse back, carved into the mountain is? Your Civil War, perhaps?

Gi'e that man a cheroot.
The figures are Confederate President Jefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson.
