My ancestry is Scots, Irish, English, Danish, Norwegian and Swiss. Sadly, my grandmother on my mother's side was orphaned so no information there except her given last name was Myers- perhaps German.
Of the Scottish ancestry I can trace it back through my great grandmother (mother's side) to Gallacher in Dumphries, Galloway (hear that P1M?), but they trace back to John Gallagher from Co. Donegal who immigrated to Scotland- further research deadends in Co. Donegal, so far.
On my father's side, my grandmother's ancestry goes back to Fitzalan of Arundel- to relatives from Bretagne- back to Scotland to Kenneth Mac Alpin and back to the kings and queens of the Dal Riata- then back to Ireland again- as much as I have been able to trace and if it is all to be believed.
As for my surname Mitchell- it seems to deadend in 1771 in Yorkshire, England with Eli Mitchell.
