And has been discussed here before, it does seem to be a common "first-timer" mistake. Many who put on the flashes for the first time may think they are merely decoration, not realizing that they are meant to mimic the ends of the garter ties.

I'm kinda miffed at my wife, I saw a pic from when we took our son trick or treating, and I had my kilt up a bit too high, a few inches above the knee. I asked her why she didn't tell me I had it up that high, and she just replied that she thought it was weird, but didn't want to say anything.

A kilt a few inches above the knee isn't really a don't, or if it is, isn't a capitol don't. In former times the Highland regiments wore them quite higher than they usually are today. Also, some prefer to wear them higher, finding that it's more comfortable when the kilt doesn't hit the back of the knee when walking, especially when hiking.

Here is a place that really enforces the "don'ts"

    http://www.sundaymail.co.uk/news/sco...8057-20839752/

I really must remember not to ask for a tee time there.

I think the key is in the club's spokesman's reply...

"He was wearing tiny ankle socks and it made it look ridiculous. If worn in the correct manner we welcome kilts."

Seems reasonable to me. Maybe he should have explained that to the transgressor.

now here's a big don't from me, and by me!

I have been following this thread for a while now, and I can't recall seeing other xmarkers post don'ts from themselves, is this just my lack of observation skills or are there simply none/few? Cause I guess we could get a good laugh from some of them, and I think it's always a good thing to laugh a little at yourself.

Come on, we know you got some shamefull pictures hidden somewhere on that drive! now share the fun!

Seems reasonable to me, too, and perhaps he did explain it. The report was in the Sunday Mail, after all!
