Quitter Socks
<rant>
Having one of those days today. And to top it off, the socks that I drew out of the drawer this morning (in the dark so as not to wake the little lady) happen to be....you guessed it: quitter socks.
What are quitter socks you ask? Quitter socks are the socks that, no matter how much you cinch em up, never stay put and always end up bunched up around your ankles.
Now, quitter socks infuriate me to no end, and as a general rule, I avoid them like the plague.
They’ve been bugging me all day and I had to get this off my chest.

I feel your pain. Maybe you'll have time at lunch to go put on some flashes to hold them up?

Do you by any chance wear garters?
What are garters you ask?
Why, they are the little elastic thingys that hold your flashes on. Simply slide the flash tabs off the elastic and put it on your hose before you fold them down.
Voila, Quitter sock quitters.

Sadly, it’s pants for me today.
That being said, this is never a problem when kilted. Garters do an outstanding job of solving the quitter sock problem.
All the more reason to be kilted more, I know!

I know precisely what you are talking about. The aggravation is almost more than one can handle. Nearly as bad having to walk in sopping wet pants. ARRGGGG!

And what do we do with those socks? They end up in the dirty clothes to be washed and put back in the drawer, only to be worn in aggravation another day.

And all day long I curse myself for not throwing them away the last time while saying this time they are gone for good!

There was a time once when fellers used to wear a different kind of sock garter:
A very long time ago, I used to own a pair of old-fashioned sock garters, and loved them. I've looked for some since then, but have found the metal parts to be punched out rather than wire, which tends to cut the socks up.
These days, I have committed instead to throw quitter socks into the trash rather than the dirty clothes basket when I take them off.
Regards,
Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

This was a scene in a movie starring Ewan McGregor. It was an argument about wearing elastic socks v wearing non-elastic socks and a garter.
