As so many have said, I feel that its up to you. I think it would be better from someone to wear an actual kilt, versus one of those gosh awful highland costumes you see every Halloween, picked up from a local Halloween costume shop.

Me, I wore my kilt tonight, while trick-or-treating with my kiddos. But, I didn't wear it as a costume. I just wanted to wear my kilt with a button up shirt (or button down . . however you wish to put it). Just, wear it out and about, and what better way than to have an excuse (hehehe).

Anywho, I've had nothing but great remarks about it. I had a couple of people want to talk about heritage, some adding their Celtic connections to our chat. People were driving by giving me a thumbs up. One car even drove by us slowly and, I could hear the passenger say "hey, hey . . that's one of those Scottish skirts". One kid said "that's one of those things from Austin Powers". Heck, even my neighbor's mother was trying to find out "what's under my kilt".

I actually enjoyed hearing the various responses, LOL. I found it interesting to see so many people ask if I were from Scotland or, if I knew someone from Scotland. Most were asking about my family ties, etc.

And of course afterwards, we took my parents out to dinner. And, as I walked into the restaurant, I felt like a celebrity. Everyone was commenting on my kilt. One of the waitresses said "you know what they say about kilts". While another waitress asked me what I was wearing under it. One guy even hollered from across the restaurant "hey, I love your kilt" and gave me a thumbs up.

Here is a pic of my youngest son, my Grandfather and of course, my ugly mug:
