Seeing as Jock is about the most "Poster Child' for a kilted gentleman, I don't think this will be an issue what-so-ever.

I did have a quiet smile about this, but, nevertheless it is very good advice for the unwary.Can I take this opportunity to thank every one for their advice. We have the happy couple coming to stay in a few days time, so, we at least know what questions to ask!

I wear a kilt to Temple (Reform) for all services without any problems. The only issue I ever had was the Temple President coming up to me after service one Friday and telling me I was 'improperly dressed'. Further discussion elicited that he was referring to my lack of a sgian dubh. I generally do not wear one for services, but did just recently for my own wedding there.

You might want to check on which Jewish tradition is being followed - Conservative and Orthodox are much stricter in their interpretations of tradition. A quick call to the Rabbi might also be in order.
