I can't speak for Alan, but I have seen them at this link, as well as, buttons:
Patterns and Sewing Items from Highland X Press
That's not the direction I'm going, so I won't comment on the PC look.

That's a great look. Even better than the red suit!

I got a mess jacket and I normally wear a 46 and for it to fit me I had to get a 48. I had gone to a tux rental shop to try the sizing and found the 46 to snug and the 48 just right.

Here is my question: is there a source for epaulettes that could be attached to the Eton? Doesn't look like it comes with them. If I add the buttons for the "PC" look, would like the epaulettes also.

The Eton Jacket is not a PC.
Since it's NOT a Prince Charlie, why try to make it into a Prince Charlie? It's a perfectly valid, shortwaisted dressy jacket that works for "black tie" all by itself.
If you want to add epaulettes and tails and a gazillion buttons and re-cut your $35 jacket to be a custom fit and so on and so forth, that's your business.
but just in case someone missed it, here, I'll write it again...
The Eton Jacket is not a PC.

And that is what I love about it. I probably will get one that costs a bit more than $35, but I would rather have an Eton than a PC.

I'm with you on that Ted. I'm not looking to get an Eton, or Mess jacket as a poor man's PC. I actually prefer the look (the PC has too many military overtones for me, and the silver buttons aren't really my taste). I would love to find a quality Eton jacket, but every search I do on Google turns up uniforms for the service industry that are made out of polyester for around $40-50.
I would be quite pleased to find a quality black wool Eton in the $200+ range.

Spencer Jacket
Just talked to Tuxedo Royale in Toronto, Ontario and ordered a previously enjoyed Spencer jacket, the difference between the Spencer and Eaton is the shawl collar , I much prefer the notched style of the Spencer. The jackets are all wool and reasonable at under $100.00 Canadian. I was informed they have lots in stock however most are 40" and under chest size. Just thought I'd pass the info along.
