I totally understand that, Slag, and I'm glad you found our thread. Read as much as you can about fun and harmless come-backs to the "Question" and "skirt" comments, and tips (like how to sit without crushing the pleats) and everything else on this board while you wait for your first kilt to arrive. It helps keep you occupied while you wait for it. Heheheh! The first time out kilted in a group is a very nice way to jump in! Hopefully we can plan an outing that will give you a chance to do that, if you'd like!
Good luck on ordering your first kilt and enjoy! I'm sure it will be the first of many. What did you end up deciding on?

Thanks Cynthia!
I am leaning towards the 5 yard Lindsay Modern from USA Kilts. I will order an 8 yard hand sewn as soon as I know that this going to be a long term addiction for me.
I have probably read over half the forum in the last 24 hours

Hiya Splash!
I think the last time you were here (or was it the ONLY time you were here) was our first round-up, wasn't it? So you are back in the states? Yea for you!
Having lived in Bedford, I can recall there are not many venues of the Celtic kind...haven't been to the Plaza Pub, but that sounds as good as anything else.
I will give them a holler and see what they have going on...maybe given enough notice, they can advertise for us as well.

I know this probably won't pass for an "official" kilt night, but my wife and I are going to the Tap Inn in Grapevine Saturday evening to see a band we really like. We both have shows that evening so we won't get there until about 10 or so, but if any kilted types would care to join us you will be more than welcome!

I'll be at Ft Hood Thur and Fri, daughter's b-day party is this Saturday, after that I'm pretty open. As my old Platoon Sergeant used to say, "Anywhere, anytime"
"My beloved America, thank you for your children. If your children want to become soldiers I will train them. When they are hungry I will feed them. When they are thirsty I will give them water. When they fight for freedom I will lead them. When they are unsteady on the battlefield I will motivate them. If they die on the battlefield I will bury them. So help me God."

And yet another new face.
Hi folks, I'm Devon. I recently purchased kilt #1 from the scotweb store for my wedding. Notably, the wedding is THIS month, so I'm pretty busy between now and then, but I would really enjoy getting out in the kilt at least once before hand to kind of get used to wearing it.
So, any plans for a kilt night yet? I'm sure interested.

Nothing has been planned yet... just trying to get folks here to let us know what works best for them (heck, I haven't even been able to say what dates/places work for hubby & me yet ).
I'm sure we'll get something figured out, even if it's a small, simple gathering

Hello Devon and welcome!
Congrats on the kilt and wedding.
I have not pushed for anyone getting together as I have had a sinus infection for the last week....boooooooo
As Cynthia said, just trying to get a feel for a day and a place that would work for the majority....the problem being a lot of work goes into getting people to gather when only two actually show up.
So....anyone? Anyday? Anytime? Anywhere?
