Kilted Kids do the Darndest things...

My son (just turned 4) decided to wear his kilt today, which I was fine with, but as were were about to leave, he found a penny. He spent about 2 minutes trying to find a pocket on the kilt, then looked at me rather angrily and demanded help finding the pocket. I told him he didn't have any pockets on the kilt, and he made me go upstairs and get his pants (which have pockets) so he could carry his penny. (Why, SWK, don't you have kid sized sporrans/ belts?)

I had seen that, when I ordered from SWK they didn't have the child size in stock, and my wife is spending all our money on her classroom. I havn't had the heart to tell her she spent our rent money on candy. (She spent about 200 over the weekend)

You could easily add a small pocket onto the under apron. Just find a piece of fabric that matches or compliments the tartan cut into a rectangle, fold over hem the top right corner at an angle to allow the hand to slip in, and fold over the remaining edges and sew them to the right hand edge of the under apron.

    Done.

what ofcjax said, I have a small pocket knife pocket on my kilts, just as described on the right side of the under apron just inside of the hip bone, top edge flush with the top of kilt. its just like tuking it into the wast band but it stays there.

Another place that has child size sporrans:

They have 4 types. One is leather, and the other three are made from calf skin.

    Calf-skin isn't leather?

Good idea, sounds like a good fix for your son's problem without having to worry about a sporran for daily wear at this age.
