Congratulations, panache.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Looks good on you, but not to my taste with a kilt. Looking forward to Jock's reply.

The length of your cromach is fine Jamie, I still think that it should be used for catching buffalo though! Well alright you have asked about the hat and after considerable thought(ten seconds) I think its a great hat ,but not with the kilt. I also think that it would have a job staying on in some of the winds that we have here. You may have noticed that I have some new pictures in the picture section and the first two were put in, to show that we usually go bare headed, even in some pretty dire weather as it was in the pictures. I did think it would raise a comment -------but there we go. I have to say, apart from keeping the sun off,not a problem often seen in Scotland,I really cannot think of a bonnet more suitable to be worn with the kilt than the good old balmoral. Why re-invent the wheel? So to speak.

Jock,
I like my balmorals but I have been looking for options that offer shade.
You see here in California we do have this strange object in the sky. It is a great bright orange ball that we call it "The Sun" (you may have read about it). Anyway it casts forms of energy called "light" and "heat" down on us. This is similar to what your fireplaces in Scotland produce but they surround us when we walk outside. Thus we need to actually try to block some of this energy from our eyes and face. I shall save explaining the concept of "sunburn" for another day.
Again, I appreciate your feedback. I thought I was on the right track. It is still a very nice hat and I think it will still be a good option for cool Fall days.
It looks like I shall have to still order that brown tweed deerstalker!
Cheers
Jamie
