Banks in Au wouldn't do that -- heck, it was a bit of a process for me to get my limit raised. Probably just as well, really.

Everyone that has and uses credit cards had BETTER be paying close attention to thier credit card statements.
A month or so ago many of the bigger banks had been giving notice to card holders that rates on thier cards were going to increase.
It says you can call and reject the higher rate but if you do reject the rate it stays at what is current, but if you use the card after that it automaticly raises the rate on your balance.
OK that being said heres what happened to me.
I use two major credit cards to make purchases for monthly expenses to run my business. Most of the expense is to purchase material to complete jobs.
These two cards are paid in full when a job is complete which in some cases runs from a month to two or three. No problem. The rates 5.9% which im willing to pay for useing thier money which at times runs up to five to ten thousand.
Saturday I recieved a statement on one of the cards that is near ten thousand, and noticed the rate jumped to 21.99.YIKES.
I had no idea why because I never even noticed the warning on past statements about the change and must reject it,so I knew nothing about the why.
After spending about two hours on the phone with the bank, and they reviewing my history, they agreed to drop the rate back to 5.9 but told me if I used the card again until I hear from them the balance would increase back to 21.99.
I thanked the guy very much and then told him "Guess what i'm doing".
He said "what"?. I said " Cutting you card into itty bitty pieces" and hung up.
So keep a very close watch on your statements.

Rebel Olive???? Hmmmmm
Cut the card(s) up more than once....don't need a card to order on line...just them numbers that come with the bill every month...
And...if Maui weren't humid, I'd still be there...there were 8 jobs open in my profession when I first visited in June...

Just in the wrong place on the Garden Isle, Maui has almost every climatology you can imagine, from super humid around Hanna to super dry on the sw side of Haleakala, but considering the dew point around lake Powell, anything is going to be humid by comparison. ith:

Oh, I would definitely get a leather kilt, just to have one, and an Ohio tartan, and a black watch and.... and get the last of the supplies to finish opening my hot sauce store. I'm so close, and I would need a kilt for each day of the week or something like that....

Well, everyone know the statement, 'you can't take it with you.' Applies to credit debt, too; you leave it behind! And the credit card companies have to write it off.
Now in saying all that, I don't advocate taking on more than you can reasonably pay off in a reasonable time.

I've noticed that the companies don't seem to know the limits that the others place on your account, only the balance you carry. Since I keep my balances fairly small, paying off each month as often as possible, they all have raised my limit far beyond my ability to reasonably pay off if I maxed either of my cards.

Except for the 3 digit CVC code and the exp date.
The new interest just kicked in on one of my cards, went from 9 to 25 percent, they said I had bad credit history, which is funny that they figure that after 2 years on their 'bad history rebuilding credit card'
A week before that, the gave me another card with a lower rate and benefits. Once I get the old one paid off... I kid you not, 50% of my last payment went to interest, used to be a mere fraction. I haven't even used them in a few months, but anyways...
