going to attempt to make a sporran

I appreciate the advice once again Turpin. At the moment I am considering a redo. I am also considering finishing this one and then promptly starting on a new one using what I learned on this one. I would take this one and use it for a beater Sporran at that point. but on my continuing saga I have rolled the front top lip and stitched it down. I also bought a grommet setter last night so in the near future I will be able to start putting grommets in it for the draw string closure. Here are the pictures of the continuing process.

Hi Guys, so I am struggling to figure out how to layout the draw string closure on the sporran as well as how to do the top flap. roughly what weight leather should I use for the top. any suggestions or advice( preferably with pictures but appreciated either way) would be great. thanks again everyone for all the help.

for those that are still reading this thread I am sorta stuck, can someone please post pictures of their sporran top back and front both opened and closed (six in all please) I don't currently have a sporran because I have always worn modern kilts, but am switching to traditionals. not having a sporran to work from I am not sure how everything is supposed to fit together and if anyone can post that for me I would be very very appreciative.

Crikey!! This forum is great, you can learn so much stuff here. I didn't know things like 4 pronged leather punches existed and was thinking of a way to cannibalise a dinner fork for just such a job. Lovely wife would have killed me!!

6 holes across the back and front, two in each side of the gusset. Four holes in the front stiffener for the closure loop.

Ok everyone, here is the next phase of the sporran I should have it done today. woo hoo.










apparently you are only allowed ten images per post so please see the next post for the rest of the current images.
those are a little out of order but you can get the idea that I am lining up and punching the heavier leather for the back stiffener and for the stiffener for the front you can also see the grommets for the drawstring laces there as well.
