I've already purchased (and received and used some of) a supply of Tailor's Pride hair canvas from Vogue Fabrics, as recommended in The Art of Kiltmaking, but this morning while hitting a local store for other supplies I looked -- and they carry hair canvas!
It is the Acro brand, also available from Vogue. I bought some to compare to TPride, and the Acro seems just a hair (sorry) stiffer -- but otherwise identical in color and width. At under $7/yard, it was also less expensive than Vogue's online price + shipping.
I expressed my surprise at finding it, and the clerk said the local junior college (Mesa) has a fashion design program. The store carries it based on demand from those students.
So -- I can't say that all Beverly's carry hair canvas (they are a Calif. chain, see locations here -- no online sales). But it might be worth checking with local schools to see if they offer fashion design, and if so where they get their supplies.
