Great forum, glad to be here!
Hey all, just wanted to drop a quick note about myself before I get to reading. I am in the process of learning about my family and my history. I was separated from them at birth, and over the last six or so years have begun to learn my roots and my ancestors. My mothers side of the family is Forsyth. (I was born Joseph Ryan Forsyth) and my fathers was MacDowell (MacDougall). I am proud as hell of my heritage, and want to learn as much as I can about the people I am tied to. I recently decided to join a group of ex-pats here in Canada, the Sons of Scotland. I don't yet own a kilt and gear, it was my searching for an authentic, quality kit that led me to this site. I am glad to have found you guys. I don't have anybody with good solid knowledge and resources to share info with, I am looking forward to posting with you.
Sorry to get all long-winded on you guys, but it's a huge thing for me to find a forum like this. That and I'm 6 or so drinks into the night already.
Cheers.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Hello and a warm Celtic from Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
It is always great to have another neighbor from the North on the board.
For the kilt, you are not far from Steve Ashton of Freedom Kilts in Victoria. Check out his website from the link above.
