Double box pleat

Having mocked up a double box pleat and a military box pleat, the double box pleat is distinctly more draughty. The open centre seems to act like bellows to draw in and then waft the air towards the body.
I suspect that the double box will prove to be cooler, when in motion, than any of the other methods of pleating.
As this is 6 and 1/2 yards of single width material, and posssibly a bit skimpy for the knife pleats, I'd say the double box is not only going to be visually stunning but prove to have inbuilt punkah function.
Oh - a punkah wallah was the poor fellow who worked the large ceiling fans by pulling on a cord, but who sat outside and got no benefit from his efforts, just in case anyone is unfamiliar with British Raj house servant names...

Anyone else curious why there's a "Sett = 11.6cm or 4.6inches" listed on the auction? Didn't know Solids HAD a sett size.

I have to second that.
It may seem a paradox, but nonetheless a fact.
Many deep pleated women's skirts show the same phenomenon.

Just a matter of taste, but I think single colour kilts look best in the double box format.

I voted for knife-pleats. I love the double-box pleat kilt ala Lady Chrystel, but think a knife pleat may be more appropraite as this is pretty heavy 18 oz material. I also think Irish saffron kilts are knife-pleated?
Cheers!
