Thanks sooo much for such a detailed review. Much much more than I expected mate! So ta! I have been toying with the idea of getting a non-wool kilt for knock about hiking and the like and, as I said in my original post, I was rather disappointed with the Highland Inspirations one. It certainly sounds as though a PV is the way to go... and certainly a must to have it properly tailored to my measurements. That is indeed interesting that the PV USA kilt isn't lined. I actually haven't seen an unlined kilt yet. I wonder if that causes one to sweat a little more without the cotton to wick away the dribbling as it were? How do you find it after a long warm day of continuous wear?

Many thanks again for your great review/comparison!

Kind regards,

Scotty
No problem. It was my pleasure to write the review. I was wondering if I was getting carried away.

I actually haven't had an opportunity to wear the new USA Kilt all day yet. I wore it out to get groceries and shopping, but was not out long. I changed when I got home because a bike ride and a car washing appeared to be in the near future. Neither happened as my cold got the best of me and I ended up staying inside napping on and off.

Anyways, I imagine it is going to be fine really. The acrylic ones I get from Stillwater are nice and airy, but do insulate well. I imagine the PV material will be similar in the insulation area even though it is PV. The one good thing about kilts is that it is natural air conditioning as the entire bottom section is wide open. As long as there is a breeze, you are almost guaranteed to stay comfortable.

We are also entering the "cold" season here in Florida. I say "cold" in quotes because to me it isn't, but all these Floridians around me seem to be bundled up. I have a feeling I won't get to see how the PV compares in the heat for sometime. Hopefully Rocky or someone more familiar with USA Kilts will read this and be able to give you a better answer in regards to the heat question.
