In an inspired piece of casting, they have Jeremy Irons as Lord Havelock Vetinari....let's see how long it takes JI to sneak in his tag line, "...you have no idea." Astute watchers will note that he even managed to stick it in The Lion King, where he did the voice of the evil lion, Scar.

Great news. After following this thread I secured copies of The Hogfather and the Wyrd Sisters through netflix. I enjoyed both, but especially the Hogfather- Pratchett seems to be a very allegorical guy.

I just plowed through the Moist Von Lipwig books, Going Postal and Making Money. Both of them are great and Pratchett's take on economics, collectibility, politics, fraud, counterfeiting and the incredible deviousness of Lord Vetinari. Given current events in the markets and the fluctuation of currencies, they are both particularly timely.

Jock, the best I can do to answer your question is to suggest an online search- perhaps Wikipedia. In short, he is an author, from the UK. I have only recently started reading his works. I guess the genre he wrties in is considered 'comic fantasy'. I hope this is a small help.

Most of his Books are written on the Disc world, witch is a Disc resting on the backs of 4 elephants riding through space on the back of a turtle. Atun the world turtle unless I've got it's name wrong and that is entirely possible.

He also had the dubious honour of being the UKs most shoplifted author for many years.

I posted that The Colour of Magic would be airing on ION TV in the US this coming weekend, November 22-23...it seems that that plan has run aground and that they will not be airing it till some time in the future.

    Just so's you know...
