I always thought it would be cool to live in a "named" house. Now that we have a neat old place I can't for the life of me come up with an appropriate name for it.

    How about ESSEX PLACE?

Love the flag and the house, too, of course! Look back at who built and owned it before you, who loved it and cherished it and made it such that you wanted to carry on their well-wishes. Who were they, where did they come from, what were their desires? Give it time and its name will suddenly come -- sleep well on it is the proven advice,

You know...sometimes the most obvious answer is right in front of you! I honestly never thought of that for a name, but it sure works!

Thanks TD! I've had that flag and pole for years but never had a good place to hang it from. When we bought this house last year I finally found the perfect spot.
I still have to check the land titles office for a list of previous owners, but from what I've heard from some of the locals this was "just a house". No-one of great importance lived here. Still a neat old place, though!

The house, and especially the pickup, take me back to my childhood. I would name the place "Nostalgia".

Thanks, sounds like you had a good childhood!

I grew up in an large old house about 85 miles from where I now live. Never had an old car back then as I was just a kid. After we moved away from the area I always missed the old house with all it's character. When we found this place for sale last year my wife and I knew immediately that we were "home". It meant giving up city life and moving 700 miles away, but it was worth it.
The truck was offered to me by an old friend after we moved. I helped work on it with him in my old hometown 30 years ago, so it was a no-brainer purchase.

Well, given the automotive theme at work here, how about "Essex Park"?
