Gunga Din

Just watched this classic movie from 1939 with the kids yesterday afternoon.

I haven't seen it since I was a kid, but it still a fun movie. My kids enjoyed it as much as I. What I hadn't remembered about the film is that there is a whole kilted regiment (Cary Grant calls them "Scotties") that play a big part in the film toward the end.

And the X Marks the Scot Pith Helmet Brigade will be very happy with the headgear sported in this movie!

If you haven't seen it, it is worth checking out.

It was on TCM last week, wonderful little film and yes I did take note of the headgear.

Aye, a favorite since childhood. Never gets old. Always a good flick.

"Hangin' in like Gunga Din" does have a meaning, and the movie well explains the phrase.

I haven't seen that film in years (I hate to admit it's probably decades!!) but it was a favorite film of mine oh those many years ago. I need to watch for it!

FYI, in British Arny slang to "go for a Gunga" is to partake of a curry at one's local Indian restaurant (usually after several pints of throat lubricant).
