Oh No!!
We just met Evinrude last weekend, and he was a very sweet kitty. I know you miss him. Give Earl and Einar hugs from us. Tell Earl to stay out of the abandoned house.
Hugs to you both. We love you guys.

My hearfelt sympathies to you both. I'm likely going to have to make a similar decision for our dog in the next few days.

I'm sorry I didn't come here sooner to say thank you for everybody's kind words. Evinrude was a gift from my mother at a time when I was very lonely and had been away from Arlen for over six months. He was a sweet and loving cat and was only about a year and a half old. I'm still having a very difficult time over this loss, but all the love and kindness everybody here has shown us helps a lot. It's just so painful to see an innocent creature suffer and have no way to help. We did all we could for him, including helping him to die peacefully and painlessly, but things just aren't the same without him. Our other two cats have been very sad boys these past few days.

Thanks again for all the condolences and well wishes.
We are getting through it bit by bit. It's just very sad and we learned a hard lesson from it.

Evinrude, purr in peace.
I'm guessing the name relates to the purr.
I've had cats all my life. I remember the quote, although not the person to whom it's credited, "I find the company of cats preferable to that of many people I know." Losing one is always painful--they are such a joy in life, and hard to let go. I nearly lost one to late-onset diabetes this past summer, and it would have broken my heart--just as the last few did.
My condolences.

Yes, he had an incredible purr from the day I got him. The name seemed to fit immediately.
