New SWK Ancient MacRae

Just wanted to get a sanity check on the length of my new SWK. The other kilts I have are all fit at the hip, this is my first 24". Its a much different fit than I'm used to. It hits me on the top half of my knee cap and comes just past my belly button. Just wanted to run it by you guys and see what yall think...

Looks good on you. I am 6'1" and the 24" SWK fits me well with the top about the belly button and the hem at the top of my knee. My traditional kilts are longer as my kilt waist is about an inch or so higher. The avatar is in the SWK standard. I only own two contemporary kilts that ride at my "jeans" waist or top of the hip. You appear to be leaner than I am, and look much better in proportion.

Looks OK to me, I would hike it up just a tad, say about an inch, but no more. It is well within the acceptable range IMHO.

It looks good. I think it's becoming a widely accepted opinion that SWK's are an inch too long. Perhaps two inches, even.

You need to find your true waist, then try to get the top of the kilt a little above that. It's tapered all the way to the waistband, so it is going to squeeze your waist right at the bottom of the waistband especially on the sides and back.

My SWKs didn't quite fit right until I did some alterations, but hey it's off the peg.

The apron is a little off too due to the large difference between my waist and hip size,,, but like you said,, its off the peg!

If you're talking about the bottom corner curl that folds over into the first pleat on the left side, then that is fixable. The SWKs are designed for buttless people, though.

SWKs are designed to fit much like a traditional kilt - without the luxury of custom hand tailoring. they want to sit at your natural waist - not your hips, not your belly button. To find your natural waist bend to the side and look for your "hinge spot" - think bottom of you rib cage. Its likely in inch or more above your navel.

By the way - its a great looking kilt!
