    Real Scot at work

Well...real in the sense he was from Aberdeen, Scotland.

At the firm I work, we had a SONY security products new lineup lunch and learn thingy today and one of the presenters was a Scot.

He was surprised to see me in my kilt, up to and including my skean dhu.

He told us how he didn't wear his kilt anymore because of the strange looks, so I reminded him that I wear my kilt daily and after a while you automatically screen out the stares and focus on the positive comments when they do happen, etc.

Refreshing to hear the accent and, personally, to be able to 'represent'.

I was in Scotland 2 months ago and only saw one gent in the kilt. Other than the staff in highland dress stores or playing the pipes on a corner. I got lots of looks and certainly acknowledging nods from the pipers, as I was in the kilt most of the time.
Shame that it is less common to see

Great to get some support from a Scot! It's one of the reasons why I like X Marks so much.

Arlen gave me a tour of his native Glasgow, and we were both kilted the entire time. As you well know, they're great!

Yes, sad but true. Gents on the whole hardly make any effort to dress at functions let alone be kilted. Even going to church has gone casual.

How true. The ladies buy a new frock, go to the hairdresser's, have a make-up session all for a night out. And what do the men do? Look out their best t-shirt, muss up their chinos, slip on their scuffed shoes. What happened to making an effort?

    Not me buddy.

Want me to go take the trash out? kilted I go

Need me to go pickup our carry out dinner order? Give me 5 minutes to dress up just for that.

    etc., etc.

wife and I were talking about just that the other night, how people nowadays don;t give a rat's **** about dressing nicely in order to go out.

at least we both do. makes both of us feel like a million bucks, specially compared to the saggy pants, or the super tight t-shirts that make their rolls look even bigger, etc.

    anyway, im off now.
