I voted for the Sheriffmuir, mainly because I think it is the most practical and versatile of the doublets -

and it is also the most "forgiving" when it comes to an expanding waistline (like mine).
It also looks OK "dressed-down" a bit if you don't want the whole lacey jabot and cuffs look and don't stretch to a waistcoat just yet here it is with a bow tie -

My next favourite is the Kenmore (my tailors call this a Montrose) in blue velvet and can be worn with a jabot or a bow tie like this -

and finally my least favourite is the Montrose. This is mine in green velvet. It is a most unforgiving jacket, can't be worn unbuttoned and if you could see the lining after many years of sweating in it you would realise why. Of course it was designed to be worn before the days of central heating -

I don't like the lace cuffs, just as a personal thing. I find them fussy and a nuisance, liable to catch on things such as buttons and jewellery, and prone to dipping into soup and whatever else you are eating.

This is the Kenmore once again, this time with a jabot -

I prefer to wear the belt underneath it to save the velvet from damage.
