As a piper there has been a couple of occasions in which I was performing a duet. We chose to wear argylls, vests, and glengarries, etc. Outside of piping, I would prefer not to wear the glengarry with the argyll. I'd wear a balmoral or my current caubeen with an argyll, though.

Personally, I wear my glengarry for piping and my balmoral for everything else.
