First, your body size will almost certainly change, when I was your age, I wore a 36" chest, a 28" waist, and a 37" sleeve. Now 50+ years later, the only dimension which hasn't changed is the 37" sleeve length!

Now having said that, a tailored outfit cannot be beat for fit and style and general good looks. If, on the other hand, money is tight, and you are in the US, you might contact the link below. Ask if they have any "experienced" Argyl jackets for sale. You might be able to pick one up at quite a discount. Also for a bit more you can go to http://www.jhiggins.net/ They make things in house, and do made to measure for a reasonable fee. Only word of caution, for their "off the peg" jackets, they are cut a bit on the small side, and if you are, say a 36, order a 38, especially if you are just a bit over the whole inch measurement.

Hector Russel in Glasgow has the tweed, jacket only, available for 99 pounds. It's off the rack but unless you're measurments are very different you can probably get an off the peg jacket that works great. I'm waiting for mine to arrive myself. If you give them your measurments taken by a local tailor they can advise you on what size off the peg is best. Otherwise an ex-hire is the best way to go

You have received some great advice here. Get the jacket you can afford. There are several options available for when your size changes. I agree with what others have said here. A well dressed gentleman has a leg up on those who do not make the extra effort in their appearance.
