Angry Bad luck with crescent moon imports.

A while ago 12/12/05 to be exact I ordered a Brian Boru jacket . I was very excited as they promised it in time for New Years. Well New Years came and ent then Burns night then my birthday, no jacket. After repeated requests on response I finally had my credit card co cancel the purchase. One of the benefits to having a credit card. They did say at one time I could have my money back but I figured I'd have to wait again so I was patient. 2 monthes was long enough. I don't know if anyone else has had any experience with them? Buyer Beware!

I'ne never had any experience with them, but at one time they were one of our forum sponsors. They aren't now, so maybe that says something about them.

Question: was this an item that was being made to order or was it supposed to be off the rack. Having read more than a few of the stories here of the folks waiting for thier custom kilts to arrive 8 weeks doesnt seem alll that long IF IT WERE CUSTOM. Also did they communicate with you as to the reasons for the delay? did they have a sudden rush of orders? Was the fabric out of stock? did a fire rage thru thier warehouse & they had to re-order? I work in an industry where a 12 week wait for products is not uncommon. they key to keeping the customer happy is making sure they are well aware of the time frame at t he outset, advise them of any delays & difficulties that might be slowing down the order & making sure you keep the lines of communication open.

HOWEVER since they promised it to you before New Years & then again in time for the Burns dinner, if they couldnt come up with a legit reason (note: i said reason NOT excuse) you were well within your rights to cancel.

Yes it was a custom order and I thought it strange promising a jacket that fast. I don't know how it all works. I was naive, peerhaps.

Not a matter of you being naive my good man. sounds more like they were less than forthcoming with all relevant information. keeping a client updated with what is going on withthier order - good or bad - is a great way to ensure customer satisfaction. even if the customer has to cancel an order due to long wait times, they woudl know exactly what the vendor is saying they are doing to minimize teh wait, and might be more likely to re-order from them in the future, instead of being left with a very bad taste in thier mouth.

Hopefully you will/have found a source for your purchases that got the goods to you in time for your needs

    Cheers

    Michael,

I know this thread had long since died, but --since the owners of Crescent Moon are friends of mine-- I felt compelled to say something. As I would asume most Scotio-centric business are in the States, CMI is a family side-business, run by a the most unfailingly obliging couple. Right around the time of your order they were in the midst of a very difficult pregnancy, which caused the wife (who is responsible for most of CMI's day-to-day operations) to spend 2 months bed-ridden. Her husband tried his best to keep the operation going. However, between taking care of his wife and maintining his (exceptionally busy) law practice, many orders ended up taking much longer than originally quoted. Thankfully, everything ended well, as their firstborn son is the picture of health, and quite a handsome lad in his wee kilt. It doesn't exculpate them, but hopefully helps you understand.

    Yours, Aye
