In my early teens I joined the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa and was In kilt once a week. this was quit the experience for a high school football player to be in. But as you learned the history of the kilt and the unit the pride you felt and never minded the comments made while taking the bus to the drill hall and home. It is were I had my first taste of the Highland games and a summer program with the unit we took part in the Highland games in Ottawa and Maxville in the summer It is the most competitive and yet friendly games I have ever attended as a competitor in any sport I've played. As of two years ago I started attending the Chatham games and the games in Fergus. I noticed that some of the spectators were wearing kilts. So I when to check to the style and price of the kilt, And I have wore one every day for a year and a half. I like the casual or utility kilt the beat and have used them at work installing floors. siding and roofing. At present I work at the local Hardware and the owner has not trouble with the kilt in fact she corrects the people that call it a dress or a skirt.
