I'm 5'2 so I'm sure your legs are longer than mine.

I couldn't remember off hand how tall you were. It'll be interesting to see where I end up liking the hem to fall with these -- it's always so hard to know without just trying things on.

By the way, I was looking at the "modern National Dress" outfit you'd posted and at first I was a little back and forth about the poofy sleeves (keeping in mind, I've been eyeing 1890's gowns and poofy sleeves are part of them), but I have to admit I really really like the chemise you posted in your mockup even more. I didn't mind the vest, but of course I love corsets. I keep meaning to make some more but I haven't had a chance. I've made one that goes under a bustle gown, but I don't wear it outside like that.... there are some things about it I'm not as fond of for outerwear. I'll have to add that on my to do list for the near future

Can't wait to see your outfit all together!

I know the corset is backwards, I couldn't find a decent picture of a corset that laces in the front. I bought one on ebay for $15 that I'm going to modify when I can find the time. I'm still nursing a baby so I gotta have a way to get to "the goods". I don't think I like the underbust style.

I've been taught anything from about just above the knee to about mid-thigh (possibly a little higher than that, even) is a mini-skirt.

Anything higher than that is a micro-mini.

Me in National dress caught in mid-air during the Flora. It's not something you'd see women wandering around wearing in Scotland though. I understand that this costume was created (or revived) as a response to women being forbidden to wear a kilt to certain highland games. I know that the Braemar Gathering has only lifted it's ban a few years ago. I'm pretty sure that in the pic on the previous page, the women in National costume has something to puff up her sleeves, the actual garment is not puffy.

    Me, kilted.
