Spencer Jacket Success

When my son was still in grade school I bought him a casual kilt in Black Watch tartan. Later, I bought him a black worsted wool Spencer waistcoat in a Boys Sz 18 for $35 and a matching backless vest for $15 off the clearance rack of one of the local tuxedo rental stores that catered to maitre de's and waiters.

I remember, now. He wore it with you to a couple of Rabbie Burns Suppers, yes?

I've had a spencer from Worldwide Tuxedos for a couple years now. For the small investment, it's great for the rare formal event I attend. I pair it with a 3 button vest from Uniformal Wearhouse, and have replaced all the silk buttons on both with some silver Celtic design ones from the local fabric shop. The jacket came with 4 buttons but I went with 6.
