I have started a project, which I call the Sgian USB.

That's kind of a neat idea. I might make one of those and put my whole digital library on a sgain don't... Just in case.

Great idea, I can't wait to see the finished result.

Anyone up for making a sporran with a portable hard drive inside?

edit - The opportunities for humor are here, but a sporran with a small portable hard drive is intriguing.

Just so you know I wasn't joking, I like the idea accept I'm thinking more along the lines of creating a functional sgian dubh with a hollow handle that will hold the thumb drive. I think I have a blade that might work, but it will take a bit of creative mumbojumbo to do the handle.

Cool idea, be sure to post pictures when it is finished. What will hold the two halves together? I was originally thinking you were making a recess to hold the USB drive, but you are taking a very interesting twist on the subject.

My reasons for making it the way I am is because I wanted a fuctional Sgian, for areas of life where a knife blade would be a bad idea. Please let me know if anyone makes one.

I thought Panache had made a few of those. I know for sure that I have come across the idea on the forum before. I guess "USB" wouldn't work with a search because of the three letter rule.
