Not to be a buzzkill, but...
I went to church choir last night and a sympathy card and pen were going around. There's a nice lady in our church who plays piano for the cantors and sometimes the choir. Yesterday, her 6th grade son suffered a heart attack and died. Most of us amateur physicians think there had to be some sort of genetic abnormality or something, but nevertheless, I simply cannot imagine something so heart-rending.
And oh, by the way, she just got done with treatment for breast cancer, and her husband -- the one who lost his job six months ago when Blue Cross Blue Shield here downsized? -- is still recovering from triple-bypass surgery.
There but for the grace of God...
In the next few days, I'm going to set aside the inconveniences that I somehow manage in my head to turn into real hardships and remember all the blessings I have. I invite you all to join me.

Why, a child of five could understand this. Quick -- someone fetch me a child of five!

My message for sunday past was about the sheppards going to find the baby Jesus. The topic was finding Joy in Unexpected places. I plan on doing that more as '09 rolls in.

That is truly tragic, I feel for that family. It is a reminder that all I have are inconveniences, if even that; and me and my family are blessed.

Finn -- your cousin made my prayer list.
My dad passed on New Year's Eve several years ago, and I still don't know that I've gotten my holiday groove back. It's a rough time of year.

This has truly been a rough year. I really miss my parents being here. We were always so close. I was lucky enough to find a new job after being unemployed for 2 months. My son lost his job 3 weeks ago. His son is sick with ear aches in both ears. His car blew the motor. He lost a transmission in his other car. But We still have the blessing of faith. And fairly good health. Tonight as I go to church to celebrate the birth, I will try to remember all who have passed to the great beyond. And I wish everyone a blessed and safe Holiday Season and a Happy New Year. I continue to thank my creator for allowing me another day before homecoming.
Merry Christmas!

My mom is the nice old lady who plays for the cantors in our church... Man, that hits me close. Your friend will be in my prayers tonight at the kids' mass when my kids are up there singing with their choir.
