The best gift I received this year was a hug from my niece and nephew to say thank you for the gifts I brought them. (the looks on their faces when they opened them and those from Santa were priceless too!)
But material wise.. I got two sweaters that will look good with my kilt.. a few Scottish magazines.. a new Liverpool supporters scarf and book about the history of football ..and well I was really spoiled this year.
Though my Mum gave me a really special gift. A lady who lives in her apartment complex is from Scotland and is 98 years old. I have met her a few times and she is a true lady. She gave my mother a Stirling silver Celtic knot that she received as a gift as a "wee lass" to give to me. It is very lovely. She thought that I would enjoy it and take very good care of it (which I will after I buy a new chain, I am afraid it will fall off the one it is on!) It is something I will cherish for years to come.
I hope everyone else had a great Christmas too!
Sara
P.s. That is great news to hear Jock! I hope you have a wonderful reunion with your son. I am happy he is home safe!

I didn't get anything kilt related, unless you count the vintage Harris Tweed Argyll I bought myself, and wore for the first time on Christmas Eve...
I got three nice sweaters, and a nice leather Dopp kit...
And my mother-in-law surprised us with a Wii, and enough controllers for the whole family!

Xmas was this evening at my brother's house. I received:
- Four Blu-ray dvds - Batman, Batman Returns, No Country for Old Men, Predator
- Renewal of Ancestry.com e-scription
- American Lion (A biography on Andrew Jackson by Jon Meacham)
- Coasters (in which you can insert photos)
- Stephen Colbert's new book (which he dictated, not wrote)
- A free Christmas meal (except for the half gallon of milk I offered to go buy at the last minute and took me a half hour to find because the stores were either closed or out of milk)
I have one more Xmas gift exchange to go when friends come to visit next week for Hogmanay.

No kilt thinks for me, but I did get the Rosetta Stone Irish program I asked for!
I think my favorite gift was my dad's reaction when he opened the present I gave him: a pipe tune I wrote him! "Jim Long's Jig" is a big hit with the family!

I got a Real Men Wear Kilts T-shirt from the mother-in-law. Purchased from a local Phoenixville shop whose name escapes me.;)
And a brown belt, a brown sporran and a cheap Pride Of Scotland tartan kilt - all ebayed by me.

Well the God and Goddess allowed my family to be bestowed with a lot of fine gifts this year.
My wife and I upgraded our phones to Blackberries. I also got a new flash for my camera, a camera/laptop backpack, a 640gig external hard drive, a couple of sweatshirts (one a DKM), and few other small gifts.
Blessed be, and merry make!

I got more iTunes, a subscription to Architectural Digest, and the love and fellowship of good friends. My parents don't know it yet, but they are buying me a large capacity food processor.
Regards,
Rex.
