Well, I am not a woman, so I am going to point to the word "kilt" and grunt.
The standard SWKs aren't that bad. I don't know how they might fit someone with wide hips and so on, though.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

I see nothing wrong with SWKs for wedding attire, or for groomsman gifts. Spring for the heavyweights if you can afford it. They're reasonably well made, wool, and most people won't know it's a "cheap" machine stitched kilt, unless you tell them or you're standing next to someone in a hand stitched tank.
Enjoy your special day. Try not to stress too much. Make the most of it, and don't sweat the small stuff. Hell, I got married in a suit I got at a thrift store for about $10...
Remember, a wedding is just one day, but a marriage will last a lifetime (God willing). The wedding is just the beginning.

oh and I almost forgot.
Well I appreciate all the support I am a bit suprised. Our wedding is october 31st 2009. (Falls on a Saturday in 2009.) we are doing a formal wedding and a halloween reception. It should be a blast. We are having a meeting with the groomsmen this week so I will give everyone this website to help them all out. Thanks guys.

So let me get this straight I'm a bit confused, you say here that you are doing a formal wedding, however you were saying before that you can not rent, so my question is where are you getting the jackets from etc.? Or are you simply using the kilts for the reception, again I'm a bit confused.

Well formal to you is probalbly a little different for me. I am dressing in a kilt and jacket and tie. That to me is formal. The groomsmen are wearing highlander shirts. Does that help?

I say go for it, but my only recommendation would be to have everyone get the standards and no one get the thriftys. While the thrifty is fine for those on a budget, the standard isn't much more and is a much better looking kilt in comparison.
Other than that, have fun and enjoy your new journey.

The real question, which no one has raised, is what kind of cake are you having?
I'm a baker, among other things, and my free advice is:
Consult several bakers in your area, including uninspected bakers who work out of their home kitchens.
Scour the web for pictures of cakes you/she like, and take them with you when you consult bakers.
Since it's a Halloween reception, you're probably going to want black on the cake. Most black stuff will have to be chocolate.
Just about anything is possible, especially if you're willing to pay for it. Expect the price to start around $3 per slice and work up from there.
One more thing: food coloring doesn't wash out of wool (or anything else, for that matter) very well. Be careful, especially with the kilts.
I'm looking forward to seeing you pictures, and wish you "congenial negotiations" over the next ten months.

Mazel tov on the upcoming nuptials. 99% of the world can't tell the difference between a SWK of any model from a tank. As long as you have the right waist sizes, and people don't wear them too low, you'll all look fine.
Best regards,
Jake
