New Argyll (or: dressing up for a musical)

So, I got my new argyll/waistcoat in from usakilts, and I love it. Waistcoat has a slight wrinkle, but that'll come out with a light pressing. Anywho, this is a dual-purpose thread. One purpose is to show off the new purchase, and the other to get advice on dressing it up to go see Wicked later this month.

    So, the picture:

I thought the black shirt with red tie and flashes would kind of dress it down slightly (as compared to white shirt/black tie), as we're going in a large group, and some will not be as dressed up as others.

Only difference will be that I'll be wearing a semi-dress sporran, which I'm going to order from USA Kilts tomorrow.

    Look good to everyone?

If there are suggestions for changes, I don't have much more to work with, but I could see what I could do (hose: dark green, charcoal, black, cream, navy. Ties: red, navy. Flashes: black, red)

That's a nice looking rig. If it were me, I think I'd lighten it up a bit with maybe a red shirt and black tie, or light colored hose.
I hope you enjoy "Wicked". I've heard it's a really fun show to see.

I think it looks good, a bold look to be sure, but it looks like you pull it off well. I'd say for the venue it will be a good choice.

Take the advice of a multiple Wicked go-er...try to find a necktie in "Wicked Green". You'll be amazed at the number of people who dress and accessorize in that color when they go to the play.

And if you haven't seen it yet, prepare for a real experience.

And pay close attention to the musical number "I'm Not That Girl".

Hrm, there's a thought... Any thoughts on suppliers for Wicked-green ties and hose or flashes?

It is my first experience, and I'm really looking forward to it.

Any further hints on what to look for in "I'm not that Girl," or is that all I get?

Looks okay, but I'd suggest a white shirt (traditional "after 6pm" attire, and more appropriate for going to the theatre) and the tie of your choice.

You already have addressed the sporran issue

I have to go with MoR

I think that a white shirt would make the outfit perfect.

Don't know which is closer...Kelly Green or the Hot Lime...I'll have to ask my daughter; she's the Ultimate Wicked Fan.

...as to the second question...I can say no more.

Please do. I'd think about going that route.
