I went to a estate auction today and in a lot that I got for $15 was this:

It is in great condition, the straps are alittle worn and it needs a pressing but not damaged in any way!
Now I just have to figure out what size it is HELP!?! and if it isn't my size I will put it up for sale.

Wow! There are bargains out there from time to time!
As for the measurement, from the buttonhole in the outer apron to the edge of the underapron (where the strap is attached) will give you the waist size.

WOW! Why can't I stumble onto something like that? Maybe because I don't look! Then I wouldn't be sitting here in my inexpensive acrylic Black Watch -- but I bought it for knock around.

And don't forget that you can always have the buckles moved if it's a bit too large or get a set of strap extenders if it's a bit too small...the key word is "bit". I know that there recently was a thread on moving the buckles and the experts gave a ruling on just how much would be too much.

Fantastic score, though...I doubt that there's a-one of us who aren't a bit jealous.

To measure the size lay the kilt on a flat surface with the top band away from you. For the waist; measure from the left hand fringed apron edge to just past the middle of the farthest buckle where the hole in the belt will engage the buckle tang. The hips are a little tougher but are basically the same measurement. Find the bottom of the fell, measure from the left hand edge of the kilt to the same tartan element that you measure for the waist. The drop is measured from the top of the kilt to the fell.

There you have it, waist, hips, and drop.
