Looks great, and your semi-formal sporran will just add to the look.

I think you should rattle convention and play with some color!

I mentioned what I have to work with as far as kilt accessories, as far as shirts... I do have white, and I may have a red shirt... not sure.
And given that tie site that AA linked to, I may also have any color tie they have to work with as well

With due respect for the above, and realizing that what I offer is merely one man's opinion, I say stick with the black shirt. It may not be traditional, but I think the look works for you.
You already have a sporran fix in the works, so I'd say you're on the right track.
Enjoy the show!

I'm a big fan of the look you have put together. I agree that a black shirt is not traditional but what the heck.....:P
If as AA says you need wicked green accessories I'd try to get matching tie and garter ties in a green that tones with the green in the kilt.
Other than that I wouldn't change it.

Hi Tim!
I don't have any problems with Chasem's look (nor did Panache), it's just that social conventions call for a white shirt after 6pm, especially if one is "out on the town" and that includes the theatre. Coloured shirts are fine for day wear or casual evening wear (like going out for a drink with the guys), but they never look as "crisp" as a fresh white shirt, especially when going someplace nice.
Finally, a black shirt worn with a black or charcoal jacket and waistcoat "kills" the look of everything above the kilt, with the exception of the tie, which it then over-emphasizes. A white shirt, in this instance, would provide the right degree of focus on the tie and nicely frame the face, rather than making the head look like a pumpkin sitting on a fence.
Coloured shirts work best during the day when there is more natural light to bring out the colour and texture of the various fabrics being worn. Even then, I would be very cautious about wearing a black shirt. I think they can be very striking, especially when worn without a jacket, or if worn with a very light coloured jacket and black trousers, but I really don't think they work at all well with black or dark jackets.
I do, however, think the "Wicked" green tie would be a subtle bit of sly humour-- how clever of "auld argonian" to suggest it!

Hi Tim,
I work in Park City where we have a rather small film festival of 10 days. A few film and theater people seem to show up every year and I can assure you your look is Wicked. You would be envied by all. I think the green tie is a good suggestion but if you can't get hose to match. Think BLACK.

I'm not sure I know how to take that
I got to thinking, with the ties at that price, maybe a tie in wicked green, and one or two extra so I can butcher them and make flashes to match? Thoughts?

MoR is on the money here.
You look fine and there is nothing wrong with the look you have put together.
However as I look at your picture this is what I see.
You have this nice jacket, waistcoat, and dress shirt on, but because they are all in black from the waist up they blur together without a lot of distinction.
A white shirt will help make the nice waistcoat stand out.
Cheers
