Was at a BBQ over the holidays, and a slightly intoxicated muppet, who failed to introduce himself to me at any stage, managed to pluck up the courage and ask...

"Whats with the skirt?"

Unfortunately, he failed to notice the large, shade giving and very friendly samoan chap in the corner, wearing a lava lava;

So my response was,
"i dunno, why don't you ask that guy over there..."(the one built like a battleship)

there endth the conversation...

Even my three year old daughter ripped in and told him it was a kilt...which was probably more embarassing for him(bloomin Aucklanders ah BeeDee )

Kudos to your daughter! It must be really handy to have a giant Samoan hanging around. The closest I came to that is running across a guy wearing a Lunghi in a Chicago grocery store.

I grew up in Parnell and the King of Tonga had his home there, so I know exactly what a lava lava is ( and also a sulu). The jerk must have been from Wellington, where they spend so much time in high winds that they get all sense blown out of them!

Normally, i wouldn't care if someone had said it to me, but because he never introduced himself, and didn't know me, i felt that he really wasnt correctly placed to make any form of comment,

I think that he embarrassed our mutual friend more than himself...

Yeah Wellington, far to breezy for me...ah as opposed to the constant antarctic wind that blows straight over the foveaux strait into the southland plains...and smells of penguin poo...
