thanks for everyone's input, it is much appreciated. I have a leather sporran strap but the sporran I am wearing in the photo doesn't have any way of attaching it. The back of the sporran only has two metal rings to attach a two piece sporran chain

That is the curse of many modern sporran makers - they allow the wearer no choice by assuming that everyone is always going to be wearing a chain (or maybe a strap) with clips for those D rings. There are leather straps available which have clips and, under the circumstances, one of these would be better than the 'Dress' chain.

For a first time casual outfit, I think you have chosen very well, and you look confident enough to cope with anything, so you'll be fine. Whilst I agree with what has already been advised, I would add one small thing: if you are going to wear your hose rolled (or scrunched) down, I would recommend a thicker pair. Just for visual balance, you need a little more 'bulk' down there to avoid looking top heavy. At the moment, it is not easy to see where the boots finish and the hose start.

I hope I am not appearing to be critical - I'm trying to help!

    Take care,
    Ham.
